When Halma set their instruments into sonorous motion, momentary pictures appear: such as unpopulated landscapes, ice or sand deserts, or an ocean at night, mainly inexpressibly wide. Therefore the Hamburg Quartet is sparse and precise in their execution and they steer elegant changes through long passages of music avoiding the "pop" of popular. On a strong Dub-Groove, the Bass and the Baritone guitar build a scaffold that is sensitively completed by Lap steel, Electronics and field recordings. Halma enlighten the earlier Tortoise, Tom Verlaine and Calexico to a nocturnal blossom drawn with soft dark chalk. Back To Pascal ist their 3rd record and available as LP and CD.
